Potential linkages of extreme climate events with vegetation and large-scale circulation indices in an endorheic river basin in northwest China

Qingping Cheng et al.

Summary: Extreme climate events have been analyzed in this study focusing on their spatiotemporal variations and impact on vegetation. The findings reveal an increase in extreme warm indices, a decrease in extreme cold indices, and higher nighttime warming indices compared to daytime warming. Additionally, extreme precipitation indices have also shown a significant increase. Spatially, different regions exhibit variations in extreme event frequencies, with varying correlations between extreme climate indices and large-scale circulation indices. Multiple wavelet coherence analysis suggests that combinations of large-scale circulation indices are better predictors of changes in certain extreme climate events in specific regions.

Investigating spatial heterogeneity of the controls of surface water balance in the contiguous United States by considering anthropogenic factors

Zhiying Li et al.

Summary: This study used geographically weighted regression models to analyze spatial variations in factors impacting water balance in reference and non-reference watersheds. Results showed different variables had varying importance in different watersheds, with significant relationships found between climate, physiographic, and human-related factors and water partitioning.

Globally observed trends in mean and extreme river flow attributed to climate change

Lukas Gudmundsson et al.

Summary: The study analyzed global river flow data from 7250 observatories and found that anthropogenic climate change has an impact on river flow. The research showed that some regions are consistently experiencing drying trends, while others are consistently experiencing wetting trends.

Spatiotemporal variations of extreme precipitation and its potential driving factors in China's North-South Transition Zone during 1960-2017

Liyuan Wang et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the spatiotemporal variations of extreme precipitation events in the Qinba mountains, finding different trends in extreme precipitation in the region; extreme precipitation increased in the eastern part while decreased in the western part; altitude, longitude, and latitude have a significant impact on extreme precipitation; atmospheric circulation patterns and ENSO also play a crucial role in extreme precipitation variations.

GLC_FCS30: global land-cover product with fine classification system at 30m using time-series Landsat imagery

Xiao Zhang et al.

Summary: This study developed a novel global 30m land-cover classification system for 2015 by combining Landsat imagery and high-quality training data, achieving high accuracy. The GLC_FCS30-2015 product provides more detailed spatial information and a wider variety of land-cover types compared to other existing products, making it a valuable resource for global land-cover analysis.
