Propagation of Shock Wave at the Cavitation Bubble Expansion Stage Induced by a Nanosecond Laser Pulse

Siyuan Geng et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the attenuation characteristics of a shock wave in water after optical breakdown, with findings of a shock wave front velocity reaching up to around 4000 m/s and a sharp attenuation process to sound velocity within 310 ns. A prediction model is proposed to calculate the location of the wave front.

Nanosecond resolution photography system for laser-induced cavitation based on PIV dual-head laser and industrial camera

Dixi Han et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the detailed analysis of the initial and collapse processes of laser-induced cavitation, using a nanosecond resolution photography system based on PIV dual-head laser and conventional industrial camera. The experimental results demonstrate the reliability of the system and reveal the asymmetric evolution of laser-induced cavitation bubbles.

Mean velocity and temperature profiles in turbulent Rayleigh-Benard convection at low Prandtl numbers

Wei Xu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the mean velocity and temperature profiles in turbulent Rayleigh-Benard convection at low Prandtl numbers through direct numerical simulation, revealing changes in flow patterns and proposing balance equations to describe the distribution characteristics of velocity and temperature.

Numerical assessment of the erosion risk for cavitating twisted hydrofoil by three methods

Ting-ting Lei et al.

Summary: This paper adopts the LES method and Zwart cavitation model to evaluate erosion risk on a hydrofoil surface, using three methods including IFM, TAIs and GLM. IFM's erosion intensity index is highly sensitive to thresholds, limiting its application; predictions by the four indicators in TAIs do not align well with experiments; GLM using instantaneous pressure field is satisfactory, while using time-average pressure field improves erosion risk prediction accuracy.
