Cardio-ankle vascular index with renal progression and mortality in high atherosclerosis risk: a prospective cohort study in CORE-Thailand

Summary: The study revealed that in a Thai population at high risk for atherosclerosis, increased arterial stiffness, as indicated by high CAVI, was associated with worsening renal function, including end-stage renal disease and initiation of dialysis. Subjects with high CAVI had a significantly higher risk for the primary composite outcome and all-cause mortality compared to those with normal CAVI.
