Stepwise redox changes alter the speciation and mobilization of phosphorus in hydromorphic soils

Sabry M. Shaheen et al.

Summary: The study reveals that in arable soils, P, Fe2+, and OC mobilize at E-H <= 200 mV, while P immobilizes at E-H > 200 mV due to strong binding with Fe3+. Additionally, pH changes and interactions with Fe3+, organic carbon, and carbonates play a key role in the migration and retention of P during redox processes.

The maturity period is the main stage of antibiotic resistance genes reduction in aerobic composting process of swine manure in sub-scale farms

Wei Guo et al.

Summary: The study found that the abundance of ARGs during swine manure composting is mainly influenced by potential host bacteria, and composting can reduce the abundance of potential host bacteria and pathogens, reducing environmental risks. Furthermore, prolonging the maturity period can inhibit the growth of potential host bacteria of ARGs, effectively inhibiting the transmission of ARGs.

Inoculation of phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (Bacillus) regulates microbial interaction to improve phosphorus fractions mobilization during kitchen waste composting

Xinjun Zhang et al.

Summary: This study found that Bacillus inoculation with PSB in composting can increase Olsen P content, organic matter degradation, and bacterial diversity, benefiting P fractions mobilization. pH is the main factor influencing P fractions transformation and bacterial taxa, while Bacillus indirectly improved the contribution of bacterial community on P mobilization by enhancing microbial interactions. Therefore, Bacillus with P solubilizing function may be a potential inoculant to regulate the biotic process of P transformation.

Soil acidification enhances the mobilization of phosphorus under anoxic conditions in an agricultural soil: Investigating the potential for loss of phosphorus to water and the associated environmental risk

Shuai Zhang et al.

Summary: This study found that reducing conditions in highly acidic soil lead to increased dissolution of P due to Fe reduction and Mn dissolution. The decrease of Fe-P fraction and Ferrihydrite-Pads, as well as the correlation between dissolved P and Fe2+, support the conclusion of redox-induced P mobilization under anoxic conditions in highly acidic soils.
