Adsorption of Pb(II) from aqueous solutions using crosslinked carboxylated chitosan/carboxylated nanocellulose hydrogel beads

Xinyi Xu et al.

Summary: Chitosan modification is a vital method for developing adsorbents, and in this research, carboxylated chitosan and carboxylated nanocellulose were used to prepare an efficient Pb(II) adsorbent with excellent adsorption capacity. The adsorption mechanism was identified as monolayer chemisorption.

Functionalized lignin-based magnetic adsorbents with tunable structure for the efficient and selective removal of Pb(II) from aqueous solution

Xuan Zhou et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the tunable covalent binding of lignin onto amine-functionalized magnetic nanoparticles for the removal of heavy metal pollutants from wastewater. The synthesized lignin-based magnetic adsorbents showed different adsorption performance towards Pb(II) with varying ratios of AMNP/lignin. The magnetic cores in the network facilitated the fast recovery of the magnetic adsorbents after the adsorption process, with good superparamagnetic properties.

Efficient performance of magnesium oxide loaded biochar for the significant removal of Pb2+ and Cd2+ from aqueous solution

Qingliang Shi et al.

Summary: Lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) are typical heavy metals in aqueous solution, known to have adverse health effects. Magnesium oxide (MgO) nanoparticles-biochar composites (MBC) show excellent removal efficiency for Pb(II) and Cd(II), with a maximum theoretical adsorbing amount and potential for broad application in wastewater treatment due to low cost and facile preparation.
