Simultaneous scavenging of Cd(II) and Pb(II) from water by sulfide-modified magnetic pinecone-derived hydrochar

Summary: Sulfide-modified magnetic hydrochar (MHC-S4) was synthesized and found to effectively adsorb Cd(II)/Pb(II) over a wide pH range and achieve fast uptake equilibrium. In single system, MHC-S4 showed excellent adsorption properties with maximum monolayer uptake of 62.49 and 149.33 mg/g for Cd(II) and Pb(II), respectively. However, the binding rate and uptake of metal ions in the binary system were inferior, and Pb(II) exhibited significant inhibition to Cd(II) adsorption onto MHC-S4. The results suggested that sulfide-modified magnetic hydrochar is a high-performance adsorbent for heavy metals removal.

Microwave-assisted one-pot synthesis of β-cyclodextrin modified biochar for stabilization of Cd and Pb in soil

Preparation of highly dispersive and antioxidative nano zero-valent iron for the removal of hexavalent chromium

Lower initial pH and higher iron dosage were found to further facilitate Cr(VI) removal. Amorphous molybdenum sulfide mediated EDTA with multiple active sites to boost heavy metal ions removal

Preparation of silicon-doped ferrihydrite for adsorption of lead and cadmium: Property and mechanism

Green synthesis of hydrophilic activated carbon supported sulfide nZVI for enhanced Pb(II) scavenging from water: Characterization, kinetics, isotherms and mechanisms

Summary: In this study, green tea extracts were used as a reductant for the green synthesis of nZVI with low aggregation and high antioxidation, which was further modified with hydrophilic porous activated carbon and sulfidation technology. The results indicated the successful preparation of porous activated carbon with microporous and mesoporous characteristics and effective loading of S-nZVI nanoparticles. The S-nZVI@HPAC showed excellent pH-dependent adsorption performance for Pb(II) with fast kinetic equilibrium and outstanding binding capacity.

Comparison of acidic leaching using a conventional and ultrasound-assisted method for preparation of magnetic-activated biochar
