Control of Stepwise Hg2+ Reduction on Gold to Selectively Tune its Peroxidase and Catalase-Like Activities and the Mechanism

Yao Chen et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the reduction of Hg2+ on Au film surfaces through an anti-Galvanic reaction, leading to greatly boosted peroxidase and catalase activities due to the formation of Au@Hg amalgam. By controlling the stepwise reduction of Hg2+, the enzyme-mimicking activities of gold can be selectively modulated. The significantly lowered activation energy by Au@Hg amalgam explains the acceleration of both peroxidase and catalase reactions.

3D Magnetic Field-Controlled Synthesis, Collective Motion, and Bioreaction Enhancement of Multifunctional Peasecod-like Nanochains

Dong Liu et al.

Summary: The study focused on the interaction between magnetic field and reaction kinetics, developing an integrated 3D magnetic control method for the synthesis, collective motion, and multifunctional bioreaction enhancement of peasecod-like nanochains. This method successfully achieved collective motion of nanochains under alternating magnetic fields, providing insights into the disturbance on confined fluids. Additionally, three mechanisms of reaction enhancement - nanostir, magnetic agent, and nanocatalyst were realized simultaneously through 3D magnetic-controlled nanochains.
