Studies on the quality and moisture distribution of kiwifruit dried by freeze drying combined with microwave vacuum drying

Lue-Lue Huang et al.

Summary: The study found that the quality of kiwifruit dried by a combination of freeze drying and microwave vacuum drying (FD-MVD) was highest at FD 12 hours and the microstructure was well maintained at FD 8 hours. When considering drying time, energy consumption, and microstructure, FD 8 hours was identified as the optimal moisture transfer point and FD 12 hours was considered the optimal moisture conversion point.

Microwave vacuum drying of Pereskia aculeata Miller leaves: Powder production and characterization

Ricardo Lemos Monteiro et al.

Summary: The study aimed to produce dehydrated Pereskia aculeata Miller (PAM) leaves using different drying methods and found that microwave vacuum drying (MWVD) preserved about 66% of beta-carotene content, with shorter drying time and high quality, making it suitable for new proteinaceous products.

Mathematical and artificial neural network modeling for vacuum drying kinetics of Moringa olifera leaves followed by determination of energy consumption and mass transfer parameters

Ayon Tarafdar et al.

Summary: Mapping the drying characteristics of moringa leaves using Artificial Neural Network proved to be effective in predicting moisture content and moisture ratio. The study revealed that a drying temperature of 60 degrees C resulted in higher drying rate, lower drying time, and energy consumption.

Microwave drying effect on drying characteristic and energy consumption of Ficus carica Linn leaves

Pelin Yilmaz et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effect of microwave drying conditions on Ficus carica Linn leaves, determining the best drying kinetics model, maximum effective moisture diffusivity, drying rate constant, and activation energy values. The results are potentially useful for exploring the applicability of microwave drying on Ficus carica Linn leaves and expanding their availability throughout the year in various industries. The study has potential for commercial usage of these leaves in industries such as beverage, bakery, and cosmetics, turning their valuable nutritional ingredients into benefits for human consumption.
