Ethnopharmacological studies of medicinal plants in central Zagros, Lorestan Province, Iran

Summary: In this study, 555 medicinal plants used in folk medicine in Lorestan Province were identified, with a focus on gastrointestinal, respiratory, and skin issues. The local knowledge of herbal therapies can serve as complementary medicine, especially for people in remote areas. Further pharmacological and phytochemical studies can be guided by the identified plants with high frequency of citations.

Ethnobotany of the medicinal plants used by the ethnic communities of Kerman province, Southeast Iran

Summary: This study investigated the traditional use of medicinal plants by folk communities in Kerman province, southeast Iran. A total of 402 medicinal plant species were identified, mainly used for endocrine, dermatological, gastrointestinal, and respiratory problems. Dominant plant families for specific ailments were Asteraceae and Apiaceae for gastrointestinal disorders, Lamiaceae for respiratory and gastrointestinal ailments, and Apocynaceae for dermatological problems.

Summary: Fritillaria, a traditional Chinese herbal medicine used for respiratory diseases, contains rich phytochemicals with alkaloids as the main active components. Besides alkaloids, other compounds have also been identified in Fritillaria species. This review presents a comprehensive summary of 293 specialized metabolites isolated and analyzed in Fritillaria species.
