Correlation between gingival phenotype in the aesthetic zone and craniofacial profile-a CBCT-based study

Summary: The study found a correlation between craniofacial profile and gingival phenotype, as well as a moderate correlation between mandibular gingival thickness and sagittal craniofacial profile. Individuals with a concave craniofacial profile tended to have thinner keratinized gingiva width and gingival thickness in the aesthetic zone.

Peri-implant soft tissue phenotype modification and its impact on peri-implant health: A systematic review and network meta-analysis

Summary: This study analyzed the efficacy of soft tissue augmentation procedures aimed at modifying the peri-implant soft tissue phenotype and their impact on peri-implant health. Results showed that using bilaminar techniques combined with soft tissue grafts resulted in a significant increase in mucosal thickness, while apically positioned flap techniques combined with free gingival grafts showed a significant increase in keratinized mucosa width.

The term "periodontal phenotype" is recommended by the World Workshop, consisting of gingival phenotype and bone morphotype. Specific methods are available for evaluating thin-scalloped, thick-scalloped, and thick-flat periodontal phenotypes.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the accuracy of high-resolution ultrasound with two different cone beam CT units and clinical assessment in measuring gingival soft tissue thickness in edentulous patients. The results demonstrated that high-resolution ultrasound provided accurate measurement information and showed a high correlation with clinical assessment and CBCT measurements.
