Synergy effect between adsorption and heterogeneous photo-Fenton-like catalysis on LaFeO3/lignin-biochar composites for high efficiency degradation of ofloxacin under visible light

Summary: The LaFeO3/lignin-biochar composites exhibit enhanced adsorption and degradation ability for ofloxacin compared to LaFeO3 nanoparticles. The interaction between lignin-biochar and LaFeO3 nanoparticles reduces the bandgap of the latter, facilitating improved photo-Fenton-like activity. This composite is a promising catalyst for the efficient removal of ofloxacin through a combination of adsorption and photo-Fenton-like processes.

Effective removal of metal complexes using Fenton-like reactions requires the removal of both metals and organic ligands, meanwhile, the fate of metals and organic pollutions must be clearly understood. Various Fenton reactions show excellent metal complex treatment capabilities, and exploring novel Fenton reaction methods is necessary.
