Target-Triggered Assembly in a Nanopipette for Electrochemical Single-Cell Analysis

Yi-Fan Ruan et al.

Summary: Engineered nanopipette tools have been shown to be a powerful approach for electrochemical nanosensing, with a generic method of target-triggered assembly of aptamers in a nanopipette for nanosensing demonstrated here. The method allows for sensitive and rapid electrochemical single-cell analysis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), a ubiquitous energy source in life and important signaling molecules in many physiological processes.

Corrosion electrochemistry with a segmented array bipolar electrode

Yiqi Zhou et al.

Summary: Bipolar electrochemistry was used to study the behavior of stainless steel in terms of anodic-to-cathodic polarization, with potential and current distributions determined by a segmented array bipolar electrode. The results were compared to conventional 3-electrode polarization testing, providing insight into critical pitting potential, general corrosion rates, and cathodic current response. The application of bipolar electrochemistry was demonstrated through measurement of pit growth kinetics in ferritic stainless steel.

A multicolor electrochemiluminescence device based on closed bipolar electrode for rapid visual screening of Salmonella typhimurium

Yun Luo et al.

Summary: The multicolor electrochemiluminescence (ECL) device based on closed bipolar electrode (BPE) allows for visualized sensing of Salmonella typhimurium (S. typhimurium). By modulating the resistance of BPE, bidirectional color change can be observed, which is attributed to the dual-potential excitation property of the concomitant electrochemiluminophores. This sensor has a low detection limit of 10 CFU mL-1 and can greatly shorten the experiment time without complex pre-enrichment bacterial. The electrochemical signal is converted into a more intuitive optical readout for visualized sensing of S. typhimurium in food, merging the sensitivity of electrochemistry with the intuitiveness of an optical readout.
