Niosome-encapsulated tobramycin reduced antibiotic resistance and enhanced antibacterial activity against multidrug-resistant clinical strains ofPseudomonas aeruginosa

Mojtaba Hedayati Ch et al.

Summary: In this study, niosome-encapsulated tobramycin based on Span 60 and Tween 60 was synthesized and its biological efficacies including anti-bacterial, anti-efflux, and anti-biofilm activities were investigated against multidrug resistant (MDR) clinical strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The results showed that the encapsulated tobramycin exhibited enhanced antibacterial activity and reduced antibiotic resistance in comparison to free tobramycin, making it a promising drug delivery system with low cytotoxicity against HEK293 cells.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Preparation, Optimization and In-Vitro Evaluation of Curcumin-Loaded Niosome@calcium Alginate Nanocarrier as a New Approach for Breast Cancer Treatment

Iman Akbarzadeh et al.

Summary: The study introduced an effective approach for treating breast cancer using drug delivery system with nano-drugs loaded into nano-carrier. The use of curcumin-loaded niosome@calcium alginate enhanced cancer cell death and apoptosis, showing potential as a novel treatment for breast cancer. The optimized formulation showed high compatibility with normal cells and efficient drug delivery to target cancer cells, reducing side effects commonly seen with chemotherapy.

Super Magnetic Niosomal Nanocarrier as a New Approach for Treatment of Breast Cancer: A Case Study on SK-BR-3 and MDA-MB-231 Cell Lines

Elham Jamshidifar et al.

Summary: The study presents a magnetic niosomal nanocarrier for co-delivery of curcumin and letrozole into breast cancer cells, demonstrating high cytotoxicity and pH-dependent release behavior for potential cancer treatment applications. The nanocarriers showed low cellular uptake in non-tumorigenic cells and high uptake in cancer cell lines, leading to enhanced synergistic chemotherapeutic effects. The findings suggest the potential of magnetic niosomal formulations for targeted and simultaneous delivery of hydrophobic and hydrophilic drugs in cancer cells, indicating advances in nanomedicine and theranostic agent development.

pH-Sensitive nanogels for drug delivery in cancer therapy

Zhen Li et al.

Summary: Nanogels are considered ideal drug carriers for cancer treatment due to their high stability, water content, and drug loading capacities. pH-sensitive nanogels, which utilize the lower pH value in tumor tissue, have shown potential for more precise drug delivery and release in cancer treatment.
