Unitarity, clock dependence and quantum recollapse in quantum cosmology

Summary: In this article, we analyze a quantum cosmology model describing a flat Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker Universe filled with a (free) massless scalar field and an arbitrary perfect fluid. By demanding unitary evolution with respect to different clocks, we find dramatic differences between different quantum theories and classical behavior. The theory that uses the scalar field as a clock shows a quantum recollapse of the Universe at large volume.

Quantum Higgs inflation
