The immuno-reactivity of polypseudorotaxane functionalized magnetic CDMNP-PEG-CD nanoparticles

Haiqiang Lan et al.

Summary: The study explores the antigenicity and immunogenicity of pH-magnetic dual-responsive nanocomposites in vivo. Results showed that CDMNP-PEG-CD induced a temporary blood monocyte response and was effectively cleared from the body through the urine system. Introduction of beta-CD and PEG/beta-CD polypseudorotaxane on SOMNP limited particle intramuscular dispersion and attenuated beta-CD-induced T cell response in implanted muscle.

An insight into the role of liposomal therapeutics in the reversion of multiple sclerosis

Niloufar Rahiman et al.

Summary: Liposomes as novel pharmaceutical vehicles show great promise in the management of multiple sclerosis by supporting effective detection, prognosis, and therapy. They can target immune cells with various surface modifications, encapsulate anti-inflammatory or MS-related therapeutics, and play a role in gene delivery or as diagnostic agents, ultimately providing a high-throughput medication approach for overcoming challenges faced by MS patients.

PEGylation enables subcutaneously administered nanoparticles to induce antigen-specific immune tolerance

Peter Y. Li et al.

Summary: The development of nanomaterials for inducing antigen-specific immune tolerance shows promise in treating autoimmune diseases. PEGylation of nanoparticles can ameliorate symptoms after disease onset in a mouse model of multiple sclerosis, highlighting the critical role of nanomaterial surface properties in inducing immune tolerance via subcutaneous administration.

Bilirubin nanomedicine ameliorates the progression of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis by modulating dendritic cells

Tae Woo Kim et al.

Summary: BRNPs have shown potential in delaying disease onset, suppressing disease progression and severity, and reducing disease incidence rate in the EAE mouse model, without the need for systemic immunosuppression. Studies have found that BRNPs negatively regulate the differentiation of naive CD4(+) T cells into Th17 cells by scavenging reactive oxygen species.

Summary: The study demonstrated that ECD-GNPs at a dosage of 0.6 mg/kg improved clinical symptoms, reduced inflammatory infiltrate, and maintained myelin integrity in mice with experimental MS. Furthermore, both GNPs and ECD-GNPs at 0.6 mg/kg showed improvements in the clinical signs of the disease and decreased levels of proinflammatory cytokines.

Solid Lipid Nanoparticles (SLNs): An Advanced Drug Delivery System Targeting Brain through BBB

Mantosh Kumar Satapathy et al.

Summary: The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is crucial in protecting and maintaining homeostasis in the brain, making it an interesting target for drug delivery in the treatment of neurological conditions. Advances in nanodrug delivery have led to solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) emerging as a promising drug carrier system for delivering therapeutic drugs across the BBB to target CNS disorders more effectively and with reduced toxicity.

Prophylactic and Therapeutic Effects of MOG-Conjugated PLGA Nanoparticles in C57Bl/6 Mouse Model of Multiple Sclerosis

Mehrdad Gholamzad et al.

Summary: The study showed that conjugation of MOG peptides to PLGA nanoparticles significantly improved clinical symptoms and autoimmune response of EAE. Intravenous administration of PLGA-MOG nanoparticles before EAE induction reduced clinical scores and immune cell infiltration. The treatment also increased Treg cell population and restored immune cell balance in splenocytes.
