A novel viewpoint on the surface adsorbed oxygen and the atom doping in the catalytic oxidation of toluene over low-Pt bimetal catalysts

Yankun Du et al.

Summary: Low-Pt bimetal compounds (PtNi3-C and PtFe3-C) were synthesized using the chemical reduction method and tested for catalytic performance in toluene catalytic oxidation experiments. PtFe3-C exhibited better low-temperature catalytic activity than PtNi3-C due to higher Pt content, while both catalysts showed desirable stability. The study also employed theoretical calculations and models to investigate the toluene catalytic oxidation mechanism in depth.

In-situ atmosphere thermal pyrolysis of spindle-like Ce(OH)CO3 to fabricate Pt/CeO2 catalysts: Enhancing Pt-O-Ce bond intensity and boosting toluene degradation

Dengfeng Yan et al.

Summary: In this work, spindle-like CeO2 supports with different contents of oxygen vacancies were prepared by in-situ thermal pyrolysis. The Pt-CeO2 interaction was regulated by the unique physicochemical properties of the modified CeO2 supports. The strong Pt-O-Ce bond on the PCH catalysts enhanced catalytic performance for toluene oxidation and CO tolerance.

Catalytic performance and intermediates identification of trichloroethylene deep oxidation over Ru/3DOM SnO2 catalysts

Xiaohui Yu et al.

Summary: Ru nanoparticles supported on 3DOM SnO2 exhibited excellent catalytic activity for the oxidation of TCE and/or toluene. The high catalytic performance was attributed to the presence of hydroxyl groups, strong O-2 adsorption ability, low-temperature reducibility, and strong interaction between Ru NPs and 3DOM SnO2. The catalytic mechanism over xRu/3DOM SnO2 under dry and humid conditions was proposed, providing insights for the industrial application of Ru catalysts in the removal of Cl-containing volatile organic compounds.

Promoting electron transfer of surface oxygen vacancies in Pd/CeO2-RE via doping engineering for enhancing catalytic activity in Suzuki coupling reaction

Bo Liu et al.

Summary: Doping engineering was used to improve the physical and chemical properties of CeO2, with rare earth ions La and Nd doped into Pd/CeO2 with a double-nanotube structure. Characterizations showed that oxygen vacancies on the CeO2 surface increased significantly with the radius of rare earth ions. The Pd/CeO2-La catalyst exhibited high catalytic performance for Suzuki coupling reaction without the need for phase-transfer reagents, toxic solvents, or inert atmospheres, demonstrating green catalysis.

Effect of Cr doping in promoting the catalytic oxidation of dichloromethane (CH2Cl2) over Cr-Co@Z catalysts

Xiaoqi Fei et al.

Summary: The core-shell catalyst composed of a Co3O4 core and ZSM-5 shell was prepared and studied for dichloromethane oxidation. Introducing chromium into the catalyst significantly increased its activity due to the interaction between Cr2O3 and Co3O4. Raman spectra and in situ DRIFT studies confirmed this interaction and the synergistic effect between Cr2O3 and Co3O4, as well as the enhanced mobility of lattice oxygen, leading to improved dechlorination performance.
