Molten-LiCl induced thermochemical prelithiation of SiOx: Regulating the active Si/O ratio for high initial Coulombic efficiency

Yang Li et al.

Summary: A molten-salt-induced thermochemical prelithiation strategy was utilized to enhance the initial Coulombic efficiency (ICE) of SiOx anode by regulating the Si/O ratio. The prelithiation degree can be adjusted by varying the coating amount of LiNH2 layer, leading to significant improvement in ICE. This approach shows potential for improving energy density and reducing interface impedance in lithium-ion batteries.

In-situ construction of porous Si@C composites with LiCl template to provide silicon anode expansion buffer

Hong Dong et al.

Summary: Porous Si@C composites prepared using nano silicon, lithium chloride, and pitch powder show improved cycle stability and lower electrode thickness expansion rate compared to pure nano silicon and conventional Si@C anodes. The porous structure provides a buffer for silicon expansion, reducing volume expansion during charge and discharge and inhibiting damage to the electrolyte interphase film.

A mechanically robust self-healing binder for silicon anode in lithium ion batteries

Hao Chen et al.

Summary: Silicon is considered the most promising anode material for next-generation lithium ion batteries, but silicon particles undergo volume changes and pulverization during charge/discharge processes, damaging the longevity of silicon anodes. This study synthesized a novel self-healing binder to repair the damage to silicon anodes, achieving excellent electrochemical performance.
