Center and multi-points current collecting for improving capacitances of rectangular polypyrrole/knitted cotton fabric-based supercapacitor

Bo Wang et al.

Summary: Polyprrole (PPy) electrodes with favorable pseudocapacitance have been rapidly developed for supercapacitors. However, longer PPy electrodes are often underutilized, affecting their capacitances. A study investigated the effects of electrode length on capacitances and proposed methods to improve capacitance for longer electrodes, such as center current collecting and multi-points current collecting. The research demonstrated significant improvement in capacitances for longer PKCF electrodes through these methods, providing insights for practical applications of longer electrodes and devices.

Hierarchical urchin-like amorphous carbon with Co-adding anchored on nickel foam: A free-standing electrode for advanced asymmetrical supercapacitors and adsorbed Pb (II)

Yashi Chen et al.

Summary: This study introduces two hierarchically structured amorphous carbon materials for an asymmetric supercapacitor device, achieving higher energy density and better cycling performance compared to other carbon-based supercapacitors. The relationship between carbon materials' structure and performance has been demonstrated by combining experiment and theoretical calculation, providing a new direction for the development of amorphous carbon materials in the field of energy and environment.

Unzipped Carbon Nanotube/Graphene Hybrid Fiber with Less Dead Volume for Ultrahigh Volumetric Energy Density Supercapacitors

Wujun Ma et al.

Summary: A partially unzipped carbon nanotube/reduction graphene oxide hybrid fiber with less dead volume and a well-ordered porous structure was successfully fabricated via wet spinning and chemical reduction. The spinning solution with low viscosity and high concentration ensured smooth spinning and reduced dead volume derived from isolated pores.

Topological transformation of bismuth vanadate into bismuth oxychloride: Band-gap engineering of ultrathin nanosheets with oxygen vacancies for efficient molecular oxygen activation

Sha Chen et al.

Summary: A facile in-situ topological transformation method is proposed to prepare ultrathin BiOCl nanosheets using BiVO4 nanosheets as template, showing improved light absorption and photocatalytic activity. BiOCl nanosheets enhance carrier lifetime by retaining oxygen vacancies, effectively activating molecular oxygen to generate superoxide radicals for photocatalytic reactions, with a high degradation efficiency towards ciprofloxacin.

Oxygen vacancy-rich doped CDs@graphite felt-600 heterostructures for high-performance supercapacitor electrodes

Yashi Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, a facile method was used to synthesize oxygen vacancy-rich doped CDs@graphite felt-600 heterostructure with outstanding electrochemical properties and high energy density. Electron spin resonance provided clear evidence of abundant oxygen vacancies in the heterostructure, explaining the superior capacitive performance. Density functional theory calculations were employed to determine the charge storage mechanism at the interface of CDs@graphite felt-600.
