Comparative investigation of fine bubble and macrobubble aeration on gas utility and biotransformation productivity

Benjamin Thomas et al.

Summary: Microbubble aeration provides advantages in biocatalysis, increasing product yield and reducing oxygen consumption. With higher mass transfer performance and less gas consumption, microbubble aerators are more suitable for applications in biosynthesis reactions.

Probing Internal Pressures and Long-Term Stability of Nanobubbles in Water

Xiaonan Shi et al.

Summary: Nanobubbles in liquid exhibit intriguing properties and can be stabilized in water using a method that involves injection of high-pressure gases through a hydrophobized ceramic membrane. By increasing gas pressure and solution temperatures, bubble sizes can be reduced, as validated by two independent models. The study also developed methods to measure internal pressures and hardness of nanobubbles, with consistent predictions obtained for various nanobubbles.

Effect of Gas Type and Its Pressure on Nanobubble Generation

Nikolai F. Bunkin et al.

Summary: The study investigated the volume number density of ion-stabilized gas nanobubbles (bubstons) and found that it is influenced by the type of gas and the pressure created by the gas in deionized water and saline solution. It was observed that the growth rate of bubston density is controlled by the molecular polarizability of dissolved gases, with the highest densities obtained for gases with dipole moments. Additionally, the addition of external ions at fixed pressure and gas molecular polarizability leads to a sharp increase in bubston content.

Bulk nanobubbles, generation methods and potential applications

Evangelos P. Favvas et al.

Summary: The stability and longevity of nanobubbles, especially bulk nanobubbles, attract the attention of research groups worldwide, with a focus on developing new generation methods and exploring their potential high-value applications. While most methods of nanobubble generation are well understood, there is still a lack of detailed explanation regarding their formation process, special properties, and stability mechanisms.

How bulk nanobubbles are stable over a wide range of temperatures

Mingbo Li et al.

Summary: The stability of bulk nanobubbles is temperature-sensitive, with bubble size decreasing as temperature rises until reaching a minimum and then slightly increasing. This behavior is explained by a charge-stabilization mechanism, where nanobubbles lose charge at lower temperatures and maintain charge balance at higher temperatures.

Dynamic Processes of Nanobubbles: Growth, Collapse, and Coalescence

Heejun Choi et al.

Summary: Nanobubbles are gas/vapor cavities in an aqueous solution with a characteristic length of approximately 100 nanometers. Despite theoretical estimates of a short lifespan, experimental evidence suggests that nanobubbles can exist for hours or even days. Various methods can be used to generate nanobubbles, and imaging techniques have evolved to observe them with different levels of temporal and spatial resolution.

Summary: The study compared the differences in growth parameters of lettuce plants in hydroponic systems and conventional soil, finding that plants in the hydroponic system with microbubbles exhibited better morphological characteristics, chlorophyll content, and antioxidant capacity. Overall, plants in the hydroponic system consumed less water than those in sandy soil, showing higher growth efficiency and yield.
