Amoxicillin photodegradation under visible light catalyzed by metal-free carbon nitride: An investigation of the influence of the structural defects

Summary: The structural defects of metal-free polymeric carbon nitrides were controlled using different precursors, leading to modifications in electronic, morphological, and chemical properties. The thiourea-synthesized material showed higher efficiency and stability in amoxicillin photodegradation, with a proposed mechanism based on ESI-MS and in situ EPR investigations.

Antibacterial Photoactivity and Thermal Stability of Tetra-cationic Porphyrins Immobilized on Cellulosic Fabrics

Summary: The thermal stability and photo-bactericidal effect of several tetra-cationic porphyrins and their zinc ion compounds immobilized onto cellulosic fabrics were compared against S. aureus, P. aeruginosa, and E. coli using a 100 W tungsten lamp. The immobilization of various concentrations of these photosensitizers onto cellulosic fabrics exhibited remarkable photo-stability, thermal stability, and antimicrobial activity against the studied strains.

This review highlights the recent advances in aerogels for drug delivery, focusing on loading efficiency, release kinetics, therapeutic demands, as well as gene therapy and life cycle assessment.
