Carrier-free nanodrugs for safe and effective cancer treatment

Sena Karaosmanoglu et al.

Summary: The clinical applications of many anti-cancer drugs are limited by their hydrophobic nature, leading to the development of carrier-based nanoparticles. However, these strategies often fail to efficiently encapsulate drugs and may cause toxicity problems in the long term. Therefore, elegantly designed strategies for carrier-free nanodrugs, including simple self-assembly and chemical modifications, are desired for high quality, stability, and performance.

Paying attention to tumor blood vessels: Cancer phototherapy assisted with nano delivery strategies

Shan Yang et al.

Summary: This review discusses cancer phototherapy strategies based on tumor blood vessels, emphasizing the dual role of tumor vessels as both anti-tumor targets and part of the delivery process. It highlights the interplay between photo-induced extensive effects and the complicated drug delivery process, as well as the need for further research on the interconnection between tumor vessels and cancer phototherapy. More sophisticated and intelligent nano delivery systems are expected to maximize the potential of this therapeutic strategy.

Monotherapy and Combination Therapy Using Anti-Angiogenic Nanoagents to Fight Cancer

Pingping Liang et al.

Summary: Anti-angiogenic therapy targeting vascular endothelial cells to prevent tumor growth has shown modest clinical efficiency in solid tumors. Combining advanced drug delivery techniques or other therapeutic strategies with anti-angiogenic therapy can result in significantly synergistic effects in fighting cancer. Clinical difficulties of traditional anti-angiogenic therapy are discussed, while promising applications of anti-angiogenic nanoagents in monotherapies and combination therapies are highlighted.

Self-delivery oxidative stress amplifier for chemotherapy sensitized immunotherapy

Linping Zhao et al.

Summary: A self-delivery oxidative stress amplifier has been developed for chemotherapy sensitized immunotherapy, which can accelerate tumor cell death by breaking intracellular redox homeostasis. The amplifier is able to effectively accumulate in tumor tissues and trigger immunogenic cell death through GSH-responsive drug release.
