Recirculating coking by-products and waste for cost-effective activated carbon (AC) production and its application for treatment of SO2 and wastewater in coke-making plant

Huirong Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper discusses a method of producing activated carbon by recycling coke-making by-products and waste for pollutant removal. The results show that slightly adding coke powder and benzene residue can regulate the performance of activated carbon to achieve similar effects as unmodified activated carbon.

Investigation on Simultaneous Removal of SO2 and NO over a Cu-Fe/TiO2 Catalyst Using Vaporized H2O2: An Analysis on SO2 Effect

Shuaihui Jia et al.

Summary: The study found that 1% Cu-1% Fe/TiO2 is the optimal catalyst for simultaneous removal of NO and SO2, with removal efficiency of 93.9% for NOx and 100% for SO2 under the optimal conditions. The generation of sulfate species on the catalysts leads to the decrease of surface oxygen vacancies, resulting in the reduction of NOx removal. Cu doping can improve the activity of the catalyst by increasing surface oxygen vacancies and inhibiting the formation of sulfates to enhance the sulfur resistance of catalysts.

Adsorption and photocatalytic removal of SO2 using natural and synthetic zeolites-supported TiO2 in a solar parabolic trough collector

Zahra Razavi et al.

Summary: The study investigated the performance of utilizing synthetic and natural zeolites as supports of TiO2 photocatalysts for the removal of SO2 under sunlight irradiation through adsorption and photocatalysis processes. The composites showed high efficiency in SO2 removal, and washing with water for regeneration was found to be a simple and effective method.
