Extendedtight-bindingquantum chemistry methods

Christoph Bannwarth et al.

Summary: This review discusses a family of atomistic, mostly quantum chemistry based semiempirical methods for describing large molecules in gas and condensed phase. These methods are derived from a density functional perturbation expansion and emphasize parameter availability for almost the entire periodic table, with improvements in atomic orbital basis set and interaction treatments. The methods are consistent with accurate gas phase theoretical reference data and have been extended for electronic spectra and response properties.

Full-frequency GW without frequency

Sylvia J. Bintrim et al.

Summary: This study introduces a new formulation of the GW approximation by recasting it as an eigenvalue problem, avoiding the use of time or frequency grids and reducing computational cost. The new formulation competitive with conventional methods and provides a new direction for improving the GW approximation.

Perspective on Simplified Quantum Chemistry Methods for Excited States and Response Properties

Marc de Wergifosse et al.

Summary: The review discusses recent developments in simplified quantum chemistry for excited state and optical response properties (sTD-DFT), highlighting challenges and opportunities for improvement in accuracy and scope. It is shown that sTD-DFT can now be applied to large systems with hundreds to thousands of atoms for molecular response calculations, and suggests solutions to improve its accuracy. Additionally, new simplified schemes for strongly correlated systems and interpretation tools are introduced.
