Spouse and Adult-Child Dementia Caregivers in Chinese American Families: Who Are More Stressed Out?

Jinyu Liu

Summary: This study explored care tasks, caregiver burden, and depressive symptoms of Chinese spouse and adult-child caregivers in dementia care, finding that spouse caregivers had higher levels of burden and depressive symptoms compared to adult children, with wives showing higher levels of burden and depressive symptoms compared to husbands, daughters, and sons. Caregiver burden was found to mediate the association between being a spouse caregiver and higher depressive symptoms.
