Magnetic resonance image-guided adaptive stereotactic body radiotherapy for prostate cancer: preliminary results of outcome and toxicity

Gamze Ugurluer et al.

Summary: The study presented preliminary results on clinical utilization of MRI-guided adaptive radiotherapy for prostate cancer patients. Patients treated with ultra-hypofractionation showed good tolerance to acute toxicities and low risk of late toxicities.

Adaptive Radiation Therapy (ART) Strategies and Technical Considerations: A State of the ART Review From NRG Oncology

Carri K. Glide-Hurst et al.

Summary: The integration of adaptive radiation therapy (ART) is increasingly common in clinical practice, offering the potential to reduce treatment-related toxicity and customize target doses. However, the complexity of ART workflows may introduce additional uncertainties, necessitating careful consideration of technological factors and quality assurance.

NRG Oncology Updated International Consensus Atlas on Pelvic Lymph Node Volumes for Intact and Postoperative Prostate Cancer

William A. Hall et al.

Summary: The study aimed to provide an updated prostate pelvic nodal consensus atlas through expert discussions and data analysis. Results showed discrepancies in CTV contours of radiation oncologists compared to the 2009 RTOG consensus atlas, leading to the development of an updated consensus contour atlas.

MRI-guided Radiation Therapy: An Emerging Paradigm in Adaptive Radiation Oncology

Ricardo Otazo et al.

Summary: MRI-guided RT has become an important tool in cancer treatment, offering superior soft-tissue contrast and the ability to monitor tissue physiologic changes. Institutions are already using offline MRI for treatment planning, and MRI-guided linear accelerator systems allow the use of MRI during treatment, providing better adaptation to anatomic changes. Challenges in advancing MRI-guided RT include real-time volumetric anatomic imaging, image distortion due to magnetic field inhomogeneities, reproducible quantitative imaging, and biological validation of quantitative imaging.

MR-Guided Hypofractionated Radiotherapy: Current Emerging Data and Promising Perspectives for Localized Prostate Cancer

Francesco Cuccia et al.

Summary: The biological features of prostate cancer with a low alpha beta ratio have led clinicians to consider higher doses per fraction. International clinical guidelines support moderate hypofractionated schedules, with recent data showing non-inferiority results for extreme hypofractionated schedules like five-fractions regimens. The introduction of MR-guided daily adaptive radiotherapy is a potential paradigm shift, with promising results reported in terms of tolerability and preliminary clinical outcomes.

Patterns of Care, Tolerability, and Safety of the First Cohort of Patients Treated on a Novel High- Field MR-Linac Within the MOMENTUM Study: Initial Results From a Prospective Multi- Institutional Registry

Sophie R. de Mol van Otterloo et al.

Summary: This study reports the initial experience within the MOMENTUM Study, a prospective international registry of the MRLinac Consortium. The high-field MR-Linac treatments showed diverse patterns of care, good patient tolerability of daily high-field MRI, and encouraging acute radiation toxicity experience in the first 21 months of the study.

ESTRO-ACROP recommendations on the clinical implementation of hybrid MR-linac systems in radiation oncology

Stefanie Corradini et al.

Summary: Online magnetic resonance-guided radiotherapy (oMRgRT) is a revolutionary application in image-guided radiation therapy, allowing for adaptive treatment planning and online imaging to improve targeting accuracy and avoid critical structures. The implementation of hybrid MR-linac systems presents new challenges and issues that need to be thoroughly explored before clinical treatments can begin.
