Priyanuj Bhuyan et al.

Summary: In this work, a liquid metal patterned stretchable and soft capacitive sensor with enhanced dielectric properties was introduced using graphite nanofiber fillers dispersed in a polydimethylsiloxane substrate. The combination of the fluidic behavior of the liquid metal electrode and modulated dielectric properties of the composite enabled the fabrication of a stretchable and soft capacitive sensor with the ability to distinguish various hand motions.

Summary: The design of a soft gripper inspired by human fingers is proposed, using a 3D printed hard skeleton and a PDMS-based soft dielectric elastomer actuator. Different actuator configurations demonstrate the design flexibility, and experimental results show that both closing and opening modes of gripper actuations can be achieved by suitably placing the elastomeric layer.

Design and properties of calcium copper titanate/poly(dimethyl siloxane) dielectric elastomer composites

Yi-Yang Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on finding a balance between the strong electric driving force and hard matrix provided by high phase content of inorganic dielectric fillings, in order to enhance the electro-deformation of dielectric elastomers. The theoretical calculation and experimental investigation were based on calcium copper titanate (CCTO)/poly(dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS), showing that smaller CCTO particles result in larger dielectric parameters and can lead to an elastomer composite with a lower modulus.

Dielectric Responses of Polyurethane/Zinc Oxide Blends for Dry-Type Cast Cold-Curing Resin Transformers

Jozef Kudelcik et al.

Summary: The study investigated the influence of different concentrations of zinc oxide on the dielectric properties of polyurethane resin, revealing that the presence of nanoparticles affected the dynamics of the polymer chain and caused a shift in local relaxation peaks. This temperature-dependent transition of electric properties in the nanocomposite was closely associated with alpha-relaxation and intermediate dipolar effects.

Study of the Complex Permittivity of a Polyurethane Matrix Modified by Nanoparticles

Jozef Kudelcik et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the influence of various types of nanoparticle fillers incorporated into a polyurethane matrix on complex permittivity. The surface modifications of SiO2 fillers affect the real and imaginary parts of permittivity, with nanoparticles also causing a shift in the local maximum of permittivity. The results suggest that the interfacial polarisation and charge multiplication of the alpha-relaxation process play a role in these changes.
