Early-time hydrodynamic response of a tin droplet driven by laser-produced plasma

Javier Hernandez-Rueda et al.

Summary: In this study, the early-time hydrodynamic response of tin microdroplets driven by a ns-laser-induced plasma was investigated experimentally and numerically. The width of the pressure impulse was found to be the key parameter influencing the kinetic energy partition, which can be used to optimize the features of tin targets for nanolithography.

Cylindrically and non-cylindrically symmetric expansion dynamics of tin microdroplets after ultrashort laser pulse impact

Tiago de Faria Pinto et al.

Summary: This study investigated the expansion dynamics of liquid tin micro-droplets irradiated by femtosecond laser pulses, exploring the effects of laser pulse parameters on ablation, cavitation, and spallation dynamics. A good qualitative agreement was obtained between experimental data and simulations of droplet deformation dynamics.

Spall-Velocity Reduction in Double-Pulse Impact on Tin Microdroplets

Randy A. Meijer et al.

Summary: The research explores the deformation of tin microdroplets caused by two consecutive laser pulses with a pulse duration of 0.4 ns. The main finding is the observation of a reduction in spall velocity, dependent on the time delay between the two pulses. The study demonstrates the ability to manipulate microdroplet expansion and spallation with double-pulse sequences to enhance the obtainable target shapes for droplet-based extreme ultraviolet light sources.
