Admission to long-stay residential care and mortality among people with and without dementia living at home but on the boundary of residential care: a competing risks survival analysis

L. Carter et al.

Summary: This study found that older people with dementia are more likely to be admitted to LSRC than those without dementia, and the less informal care they receive, the higher the likelihood of admission. The risk of mortality significantly increases for older people aged 85 and above, but decreases for those with a medium level of dependency compared to high dependency. The provision of informal care also has an impact on the risk of mortality.
