Assessing the feasibility of reduced graphene oxide as an electronic promoter for photocatalytic hydrogen production over Nb-Ta perovskite photocatalysts

Fernando Fresno et al.

Summary: The feasibility of using reduced graphene oxide (rGO) as an electronic promoter to enhance the photocatalytic activity of sodium tantalate and sodium niobate was explored. The study found that Pt/rGO/metallate composite materials showed significantly improved activity, depending on the composition of the semiconductor. The successful photocatalytic performance was attributed to a good contact between components and appropriate surface chemistry.

Tailoring the electromagnetic properties of perovskite La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 ceramics by Co doping

Kelan Yan et al.

Summary: Tailoring of electromagnetic parameters through Co doping in single-phase La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 has resulted in both plasma-like negative permittivity and tunable negative susceptibility, with the potential for high capacitance capacitors for integrated circuits. The frequency dispersion of negative permittivity in LSMO is in agreement with the Drude model, while the positive permittivity increases with higher Co content. Tunable negative susceptibility has been observed in both LSMO and LSCO samples, indicating a wide adjustment range of permittivity and the development of negative electromagnetic materials.

Aid of cobalt ions in boosting the electrocatalytic oxygen and hydrogen evolution functions of NdFeO3 perovskite nanostructures

P. Ilanchezhiyan et al.

Summary: Inorganic perovskite nanostructures based on neodymium were synthesized for bi-functional electrocatalytic reactions, with the role of Co ions in influencing material characteristics investigated. The properties of NdFeO3 and NdxCo(1-x)FeO(3) nanostructures were evaluated under varied alkaline pH conditions, showing improved conductivity and reduced overpotential values for oxygen and hydrogen evolution reactions upon Co substitution, indicating their potential as effective electrocatalysts.

Local surface plasma resonance effect enhanced Z-scheme ZnO/Au/g-C3N4 film photocatalyst for reduction of CO2 to CO

Xin Li et al.

Summary: The Z-scheme ZnO/Au/g-C3N4 micro-needle film enhanced by the Local Surface Plasma Resonance (LSPR) effect demonstrated excellent photocatalytic performance and reusability in the photoreduction of CO2 into CO under UV-vis light irradiation. The material achieved a high CO production rate after 8 hours of reaction time, which was significantly higher than that of the pure ZnO film. The combination of factors such as the electric field at the g-C3N4/ZnO interface, the role of Au NPs as electron-transfer bridges and LSPR excited sources, and in-situ FTIR technique investigation contribute to the enhanced electron transfer efficiency and overall photocatalytic performance.

Lightweight Fe3C@Fe/C nanocomposites derived from wasted cornstalks with high-efficiency microwave absorption and ultrathin thickness

Guangyu Qi et al.

Summary: Carbon materials have great potential in producing microwave absorbers, with Fe3C@Fe/C composites obtained from wasted cornstalks showing excellent absorption capabilities. The credit for this lies in the impedance matching and attenuation properties of the composites, as well as the synergistic influence of dielectric and magnetic losses in the porous microstructure. A low-cost method using agricultural waste is proposed to reduce pollution caused by burning cornstalks.

Summary: The construction of a 3D porous g-C3N4/GO skeleton aided by graphene oxide, with the immobilization of precious-metal cocatalysts, significantly enhances the photocatalytic hydrogen production under simulated solar light. The improved anchoring stability of cocatalysts and increased active sites due to electron acceptors contribute to the enhanced performance of the resulting 3D p-CNG-M composite catalysts.

Construction of Cu3P-ZnSnO3-g-C3N4 p-n-n heterojunction with multiple built-in electric fields for effectively boosting visible-light photocatalytic degradation of broad-spectrum antibiotics

Feng Guo et al.

Summary: The design of advanced semiconductor photocatalysts, specifically the p-n-n heterojunction photocatalyst, with a strong built-in electric field, has shown to effectively separate photo-generated carriers and achieve high-efficient photocatalytic activity. A unique Cu3P-ZSO-CN p-n-n heterojunction photocatalyst was successfully synthesized using a solvothermal method for the photodegradation of broad-spectrum antibiotics under visible light, with the 5% Cu3P-ZSO-CN catalyst exhibiting the highest degradation efficiency. This work provides a new perspective for the application of p-n-n heterojunction photocatalysts in environmental remediation.

Highly active and stable Ni/perovskite catalysts in steam methane reforming for hydrogen production

Zhiliang Ou et al.

Summary: Perovskites have been investigated as catalyst supports for Ni catalysts, with the study showing that doping Ca, Ba, Ce, and Zn in the A site decreases catalytic activity, while partial substitution of Mg and Sr can enhance activity. The Ni/La0.7Mg0.3AlO3-delta catalyst exhibited excellent catalytic performance and resistance to carbon deposition after a stability test lasting 35 hours, attributed to higher dispersion of active Ni and stronger interaction due to partial Mg doping.
