Summary: In the past decade, there has been extensive development in electrophilic or free radical functionalization of the C-4 position of pyrazol-3-ones, leading to the formation of C-C, C-S, C-Hal, C-N, and C-O bonds. Among these methods, the formation of C-O or C-N bonds has been studied less. This review covers selected examples of such reactions published in the last 10 years.

Discovery of Novel Pyrazole Carboxylate Derivatives Containing Thiazole as Potential Fungicides

Summary: Novel pyrazole carboxylate derivatives containing a flexible thiazole backbone were successfully synthesized and evaluated for their antifungal bioactivities. Compound 24 showed excellent bioactivities against Botrytis cinerea and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, while compound 15 exhibited remarkable antifungal activity against Valsa mali. Compounds 3, 15, and 24 are promising antifungal candidates worthy of further fungicide development.

Design and Discovery of Novel Antifungal Quinoline Derivatives with Acylhydrazide as a Promising Pharmacophore

Summary: A series of quinoline compounds, inspired by natural 2-quinolinecarboxylic acid derivatives, showed excellent fungicidal activity against various fungi in vitro. Compound 2e exhibited superior antifungal activity and could potentially be a candidate for controlling plant fungal diseases by causing abnormalities in cell walls, loss of mitochondria, increased membrane permeability, and release of cellular contents.
