Video game play is positively correlated with well-being

Niklas Johannes et al.

Summary: This study collaborated with gaming companies to gather actual play behavior data from players, finding a small positive relation between game play time and affective well-being, while need satisfaction and motivations during play were independently related to well-being. The research demonstrates the potential for collaborations with industry partners to high academic standards and provides much-needed evidence to policymakers on the relationship between gaming and mental health.
