PRISMA Spatial Resolution Enhancement by Fusion With Sentinel-2 Data

Nicola Acito et al.

Summary: This article presents a new method called PRISMA-SR, which aims to improve the spatial resolution of hyperspectral data by fusing Sentinel-2 (S2) mission data and low-resolution PRISMA images. The proposed method involves several processing steps to achieve a super-resolved hyperspectral image with a spatial resolution of 10 meters.

Combining transfer learning and hyperspectral reflectance analysis to assess leaf nitrogen concentration across different plant species datasets

Liang Wan et al.

Summary: In this study, we propose a new transfer learning method called TCA-SVR to transfer leaf nitrogen concentration (LNC) assessment models across different plant species. By analyzing five remote sensing datasets, we find that combining visible, near infrared, and shortwave infrared reflectance achieves the optimal LNC assessment across all datasets. Compared to the established PLSR model, TCA-SVR greatly improves the transferability of the LNC assessment model and further improves performance through model updating.

PROSPECT-PRO for estimating content of nitrogen-containing leaf proteins and other carbon-based constituents

Jean-Baptiste Feret et al.

Summary: A new PROSPECT-PRO model was developed to accurately differentiate nitrogen-based constituents from carbon-based constituents and estimate foliar protein content from optical properties of vegetation. The model performed well across various plant samples and showed promising potential for involvement in precision agriculture and ecological applications.

A random forest model for the classification of wheat and rye leaf rust symptoms based on pure spectra at leaf scale

Andrzej Wojtowicz et al.

Summary: The study focuses on identifying and distinguishing leaf rust symptoms caused by different forms of Puccinia recondita on wheat and rye leaves through pure spectral measurements. The Random Forest models tested with pure spectra revealed that CRI, PRI and GNDVI were the most robust vegetation indices for distinguishing disease symptoms on wheat and rye leaves.

Field-scale crop yield prediction using multi-temporal WorldView-3 and PlanetScope satellite data and deep learning

Vasit Sagan et al.

Summary: This study successfully developed a deep learning approach based on raw satellite imagery for field-scale yield prediction, demonstrating that deep learning can predict yield directly and explain nearly 90% variance. The use of WV-3 imagery with RedEdge and SWIR bands outperformed multi-temporal PS data for yield prediction.

The PRISMA imaging spectroscopy mission: overview and first performance analysis

S. Cogliati et al.

Summary: The PRISMA satellite mission, launched in March 2019, is a cutting-edge imaging spectroscopy mission for Earth Observation. The mission conducted field and airborne campaigns in an agriculture area in Italy to assess instrument performance and data product consistency. The results show that the PRISMA satellite images are suitable for further scientific applications, but further studies are needed to confirm performance in other land cover types.
