Aseptic capillary vitrification of human spermatozoa: Cryoprotectant-free vs. cryoprotectant-included technologies

Mengying Wang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to test the aseptic capillary vitrification technologies using permeable cryoprotectant-included or cryoprotectant-free media on human spermatozoa. Results showed that there were differences in sperm progressive motility, plasma membrane integrity, viability, apoptosis, and mitochondrial membrane potential under different media conditions.

Comparison of the uterine inflammatory response to frozen-thawed sperm from high and low fertility bulls

E. M. Donnellan et al.

Summary: The study found an upregulation of inflammatory gene expression in response to frozen-thawed bull sperm in the uterus. While there was no significant difference in the inflammatory response between sperm from high and low fertility bulls, low fertility sperm showed a greater binding affinity with neutrophils.

Summary: Mitochondria-targeted antioxidant MitoQ improves sperm quality during vitrification by protecting ultrastructure, while glycerol induces ultrastructural changes. Few proteins involved in sperm function and fertilization are altered during the vitrification process.
