Evaluation of novel biomaterials for cartilage regeneration based on gelatin methacryloyl interpenetrated with extractive chondroitin sulfate or unsulfated biotechnological chondroitin

Valentina Vassallo et al.

Summary: This study evaluated an innovative photocross-linked hydrogel based on GM with CS or BC, and found that both CS and BC increased the stiffness of the hydrogel and promoted the up-regulation of key genes related to chondrocyte phenotype. The study also confirmed the cellular adhesion on materials and production of extracellular vesicles, suggesting the potential application of BC-entangled GM matrix in cartilage regeneration.
