Advances in Mesenchymal Stem Cell-Derived Exosomes as Drug Delivery Vehicles

Dingyu Rao et al.

Summary: Exosomes, tiny vesicles produced by cells, have shown promise as drug delivery vehicles due to their low toxicity, low immunogenicity, and ability to encapsulate various substances. MSCs secrete a large amount of exosomes and serve as an excellent source. These exosomes have regenerative and tissue repair functions similar to MSCs, while avoiding the risks associated with MSC transplantation. This review summarizes the drug delivery methods and advantages of exosomes, as well as the progress of MSC exosomes as drug carriers, and discusses the challenges and prospects of using exosomes as drug delivery vectors.
