'Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus'-Encoded BCP Peroxiredoxin Suppresses Lipopolysaccharide-Mediated Defense Signaling and Nitrosative Stress In Planta

Mukesh Jain et al.

Summary: The lipopolysaccharides (LPS) of gram-negative bacteria can trigger an oxidative and nitrosative burst in both animals and plants. The LPS of Liberibacter crescens strain BT-1 has been found to be bioactive and capable of activating systemic acquired resistance (SAR). This activation involves the rapid release of nitric oxide (NO) and the activation of multiple signaling networks. Additionally, a protein called 'Ca. L. asiaticus' BCP peroxiredoxin plays a crucial role in SAR signaling.

The Actin Cytoskeleton Mediates Transmission of Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum by the Carrot Psyllid

Poulami Sarkar et al.

Summary: Several vector-borne plant pathogens have evolved mechanisms to utilize vector host cellular functions for their transmission. Among these pathogens, Candidatus Liberibacter species, transmitted by psyllid vectors, have caused significant damage to the citrus industry. Understanding the molecular interactions between Liberibacter species and their psyllid vectors is crucial for developing management strategies. The transmission of Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum by the psyllid Bactericera trigonica is dependent on the actin cytoskeleton, specifically the Arp2/3 complex, providing a potential target for disease control.
