Inflammation Is Present, Persistent and More Sensitive to Proinflammatory Triggers in Celiac Disease Enterocytes

Monia Porpora et al.

Summary: Celiac disease (CD) is a chronic inflammatory disease caused by a genetic predisposition to an abnormal T cell-mediated immune response to gluten in the diet. This study aimed to investigate the role of enterocytes in CD intestinal inflammation and their response to proinflammatory factors such as gliadin and viruses. The findings suggest that CD enterocytes have constitutive inflammation and are more sensitive to inflammatory stimuli.

The biological activities of postbiotics in gastrointestinal disorders

Amin Abbasi et al.

Summary: Probiotics have proven health-promoting effects in gastrointestinal diseases, but safety concerns remain. Postbiotics, as a potential alternative with fewer side effects, may serve as promising tools in the prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal disorders. Further trials are needed to determine appropriate strains, optimal dosages, and cost-effectiveness compared to alternative drugs.

The International Scientific Association of Probiotics and Prebiotics (ISAPP) consensus statement on the definition and scope of postbiotics

Seppo Salminen et al.

Summary: In 2019, ISAPP convened a panel of experts to review the definition and scope of postbiotics. The panel defined postbiotics as a preparation of inanimate microorganisms and/or their components that confers a health benefit on the host. This definition aims to provide common ground for future activities in this area.

Pro-Pre and Postbiotic in Celiac Disease

Mariangela Conte et al.

Summary: Celiac Disease is an autoimmune disease that requires a lifelong gluten-free diet, but intestinal dysbiosis persists. Studies have shown that the use of prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics in CD may have beneficial effects, including anti-inflammatory properties.

Postbiotics, as Dynamic Biomolecules, and Their Promising Role in Promoting Food Safety

Aziz Homayouni Rad et al.

Summary: Food safety is threatened by various factors, with biological hazards being particularly important. Bacteria play crucial roles in causing food spoilage and food-borne diseases. Recently, a new approach using postbiotics has shown significant antimicrobial properties in controlling pathogenic germs and their mediated corruption. Postbiotics can be alternative elements for probiotic cells and have potential as novel antimicrobial agents in preventing microbial corruption and developing functional foods.
