Exosomes as a messager to regulate the crosstalk between macrophages and cardiomyocytes under hypoxia conditions

Zenglei Zhang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the interaction between cardiomyocytes and macrophages through exosome communication. The exosomes secreted by cardiomyocytes can influence the activation state of macrophages, and macrophage polarization can in turn affect the survival of hypoxic cardiomyocytes. These findings suggest that exosomes play a crucial role in modulating inflammatory response and oxidative stress injury in the heart.

Perivascular adipose-derived exosomes reduce macrophage foam cell formation through miR-382-5p and the BMP4-PPARγ-ABCA1/ ABCG1 pathways

Yan Liu et al.

Summary: PVAT-EXOs reduce macrophage foam cell formation through the upregulation of cholesterol efflux transporters ABCA1 and ABCG1, mediated by miR-382-5p and BMP4-PPAR gamma. This finding suggests a potential strategy for the prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis.

Diagnostic value of using exosome-derived cysteine-rich protein 61 as biomarkers for acute coronary syndrome

Wei Li et al.

Summary: The study found that exosomal Cyr61 levels were significantly elevated in patients with ACS and associated with sex, family history of ACS, and glucose levels. ROC curve analysis showed that exosomal Cyr61 expression could differentiate patients with UAP, AMI, and ACS from healthy individuals. Additionally, exosomal Cyr61 levels were independently correlated with the presence of ACS.

Hemin enhances the cardioprotective effects of mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes against infarction via amelioration of cardiomyocyte senescence

Huifeng Zheng et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that Hemin-pretreated MSC-derived exosomes are more effective in treating myocardial infarction compared to regular MSC-derived exosomes, with exosomal miR-183-5p playing a key role in inhibiting cardiomyocyte senescence through regulation of the HMGB1/ERK pathway.

Impact of the Main Cardiovascular Risk Factors on Plasma Extracellular Vesicles and Their Influence on the Heart's Vulnerability to Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury

Milosz Majka et al.

Summary: The majority of cardiovascular deaths are related to acute coronary syndrome, especially ST-elevation myocardial infarction. Therapeutic reperfusion alone can contribute up to 40% of total infarct size following coronary artery occlusion, and its size depends on various factors. Extracellular vesicles play a crucial role in the functional communication between different cells.

Cardiac microvascular functions improved by MSC-derived exosomes attenuate cardiac fibrosis after ischemia-reperfusion via PDGFR-β modulation

Xueqing Wang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that MSC-derived exosomes enhanced microvascular regeneration, inhibited fibrosis development, and improved cardiac function through PDGFR-beta modulation. Exosomes showed superior therapeutic effects in treating cardiac I/R injury compared to MSCs themselves.

Summary: Extracellular vesicles, or EVs, are nanoscale vesicles crucial for intercellular communication. Studies have shown that EVs secreted by stem cells have cardioprotective effects, but when injected intravenously, they are quickly cleared by the mononuclear phagocyte system.
