AuPd bimetallic nanoparticles supported on reduced graphene oxide nanosheets as catalysts for hydrogen generation from formic acid under ambient temperature

Abbas Al-Nayili et al.

Summary: Monometallic Au and Pd, as well as bimetallic AuxPdy catalysts supported on reduced graphene oxide (rGO), were synthesized by sol-immobilization method. The bimetallic AuxPdy/rGO catalyst showed higher catalytic activity and selectivity in hydrogen generation from formic acid decomposition in water, attributed to the synergetic effect of Au-Pd nanostructures and increased reaction sites on the rGO support. Reusability and recovery test of the bimetallic catalyst demonstrated insignificant loss of initial activity after at least five cycles.
