To reduce greenhouse gas emissions and facilitate the transition to a hydrogen economy, the development of new carbon-neutral technologies is crucial. One potential technology involves the detonation decomposition of acetylene, which simultaneously produces hydrogen and carbon black with minimal carbon monoxide emissions. This paper presents experimental results on the production of nanoscale detonation carbon (NDC) and hydrogen using a laboratory version of the Pulse Gas-Detonation Device, which can produce 1.7 kg of hydrogen and 17.7 kg of NDC per hour.
In order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and ensure the transition to hydrogen economy, the development of new carbon-neutral technologies is required. One of the possible technologies is the detonation decomposition of acetylene with the simultaneous production of hydrogen and carbon black with a minimal emission of carbon monoxide. Acetylene for this purpose can be obtained by various methods, including plasma conversion of methane without CO2 emission. This paper presents the results of experiments on the production of hydrogen and carbon black in the form of Nanoscale Detonation Carbon (NDC) on a laboratory version of the Pulse Gas-Detonation Device. This apparatus can produce 1.7 kg of hydrogen and 17.7 kg of NDC per hour.(c) 2022 Hydrogen Energy Publications LLC. Published by Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
