Pressurized PEM water electrolysis: Dynamic modelling focusing on the cathode side

G. Correa et al.

Summary: This paper presents a lumped dynamic model for a high pressure PEM water electrolyzer, focusing on the cathode side and highlighting the importance of the cathodic activation overpotential. The model is calibrated using experimental data from a 5.6 kW PEM water electrolyzer stack, showing a good fit with the experimental data at different temperatures and pressures. The study finds that temperature mainly affects the ohmic overpotential, while increasing cathode pressure significantly increases the cathodic activation overpotential, which is crucial for electrolyzer performance.

Active aluminum composites and their hydrogen generation via hydrolysis reaction: A review

Fei Xiao et al.

Summary: Active aluminum composites are considered ideal materials for mobile hydrogen sources due to their high hydrogen generation efficiency, simple preparation, rapid reaction rate, and non-polluting reaction products. However, the dense alumina shell on the surface of aluminum powder significantly limits the reaction between aluminum and water. This article reviews the common preparation methods, additives, reaction mechanism, aging and preservation methods of active aluminum composites, and summarizes the latest progress in their application, as well as providing recommendations for future research.

Investigation on the Al/low-melting-point metals/salt composites for hydrogen generation

Peng Sheng et al.

Summary: The presence of NaCl affects the hydrogen generation capability of Al-Ga-In-Sn-NaCl composites, with excess NaCl leading to a decrease in hydrogen generation. Optimizing the milling time can increase the hydrogen yield of the composites. Additionally, the composites can maintain 100% and 94% of the original hydrogen yield after being exposed to air for 5 and 10 days, respectively.
