Zeolotic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) derived porous carbon: A review from crystal growth & green synthesis to oxygen reduction reaction activity

Mohamed Ali Mohamud et al.

Summary: This review outlines the importance of oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in proton exchange membrane fuel cells, as well as the recent developments in materials derived from nitrogen doped carbons (N-C) or zeolitic imidazole framework (ZIFs) in improving ORR. Porous carbon supports derived from ZIF-8 and ZIF-67 are widely used as ORR electrocatalysts and/or supports in the literature.

Composition-tunable PtCu porous nanowires as highly active and durable catalyst for oxygen reduction reaction

Hehuan Cao et al.

Summary: PtCu porous nanowires with controllable composition are synthesized for improving the activity of oxygen reduction reaction. The mass activity of Pt0.5Cu0.5 PNWs reaches approximately 5 times higher than that of commercial Pt/C catalyst. The improved activity and better durability of the porous nanowire catalyst are confirmed in both electrochemical tests and accelerated durability test.

Straightforward synthesis of chemically ordered Pt3Co/C nanoparticles by a solid phase method for oxygen-reduction reaction

Zhenzhi Cheng et al.

Summary: A solid phase method was developed to fabricate structurally ordered Pt3Co/C nanoparticles with controllable component proportion, exhibiting high crystallinity, small size, and narrow size distribution. These nanoparticles showed enhanced catalytic performance for oxygen-reduction reaction in acidic conditions. Additionally, this methodology can be applied to prepare other Pt-based nanoparticles supported on carbon.
