Analytical modeling of conjugate heat transfer between a bed of phase change material and laminar convective flow

Amirhossein Mostafavi et al.

Summary: This paper presents an analytical model for conjugate heat transfer in a flat bed latent energy storage system. The model is used to study phase change propagation and energy storage as functions of various problem parameters. It is found that the convective heat transfer coefficient is a function of space and time, and is affected by flow speed and thermal properties.

Eigenfunction-based solution for one-dimensional solid-liquid phase change heat transfer problems with advection

Mohammad Parhizi et al.

Summary: This work presents an approximate analytical method for heat transfer problems involving solid-liquid phase change, showing improved accuracy compared to classical methods even at large values of Stefan number. The method can also be applied to solve similar mass transfer problems with a chemical reaction front. It improves theoretical understanding of phase change heat transfer in the presence of advection.

An iterative analytical model for aging analysis of Li-ion cells

Mohammad Parhizi et al.

Summary: Physics-based aging models are essential for understanding capacity degradation mechanisms in Li-ion batteries. This paper introduces a technique for aging analysis of Li-ion cells due to growth of the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer. By combining iterative analytical solutions, the model shows good agreement with past studies and numerical simulations, offering faster computation time for degradation modeling.

Conditionally Exact Closed-Form Solution for Moving Boundary Problems in Heat and Mass Transfer in the Presence of Advection

Ankur Jain et al.

Summary: Moving boundary problems in heat and mass transfer processes are common and present challenges in mathematical analysis. This paper introduces an error function based analytical solution for a one-dimensional phase change problem with advection. The method shows improved accuracy, particularly at high Stefan numbers compared to other approximate analytical methods.
