Berberine inhibits non-small cell lung cancer cell growth through repressing DNA repair and replication rather than through apoptosis

Lulu Ni et al.

Summary: The current treatment of lung cancer faces challenges such as high cost, side effects, and reduced quality of life. Traditional Chinese medicine shows promise in addressing these challenges. Berberine, commonly used in colorectal cancer treatment, has demonstrated effectiveness in inhibiting non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell growth through repression of DNA repair and replication rather than apoptosis. These findings suggest that berberine could be a promising therapeutic candidate for NSCLC patients.
