Study the variation of surface topography & corrosion resistance of Cr-GO nanocomposite coatings by addition of GO nanoparticles

Summary: The chromium-graphene oxide nanocomposite coating was successfully synthesized by the electroplating method, and the addition of GO particles was found to affect the surface microhardness and corrosion resistance of the coating. The combination of GO particle addition and coating thickness had a greater impact on surface microhardness than the grain size of topographies. The corrosion resistance of the chromium coating was reduced by the addition of GO particles, but a layer with 5 wt% of GO particles exhibited better corrosion resistance compared to other composite coatings. Additionally, corrosion resistance was found to be closely related to the Sa/Sp ratio.

Tribological characterization of hybrid chromium nitride thin layer synthesized on titanium

Summary: A chromium nitride thin film was successfully synthesized on a pure titanium substrate using hybrid coatings methods, with a surface microhardness of 1109 HV0.25. The average friction coefficient decreased by 86% in pin on disk tests, but the corrosion resistance of the chromium nitride layer was slightly lower than that of the chromium coating, with galvanic corrosion caused by coupling phases on the surface.
