Investigations on the trochoidal toolpath for processing the biomaterial through magnetorheological fluid assisted finishing process

Atul Singh Rajput et al.

Summary: This paper presents a method called magnetorheological fluid assisted finishing (MFAF) for achieving a mirror-like polished surface. By using trochoidal toolpaths, the surface quality can be significantly improved. The impact of different process parameters on the surface quality is analyzed and optimized using experiments and response surface methodology (RSM). The biocompatibility of the polished surface is also investigated.

Experimental investigation into nano-finishing of β-TNTZ alloy using magnetorheological fluid magnetic abrasive finishing process for orthopedic applications

Chander Prakash et al.

Summary: The study investigates the effect of magnetorheological fluid assisted magnetic abrasive finishing (MRAF) process on the surface topography of high strength biomedical grade I3-phase Ti-Nb-Ta-Zr alloy. The study analyzed the impact of MRAF processing parameters on surface characteristics and found that the I3-TNTZ alloy exhibited excellent biomechanical properties. The optimal conditions for achieving the lowest surface roughness and highest material removal rate were identified for the raster path finishing strategy.

Experimental and theoretical investigation into surface roughness and residual stress in magnetorheological finishing of OFHC copper

Gourhari Ghosh et al.

Summary: In this study, a wheel-based magnetorheological finishing process was used to achieve nanolevel surface roughness on oxygen-free high conductivity copper. By adjusting the process parameters, it was found that a lower residual stress and minimal surface roughness could be attained by using a higher working gap, lower wheel speed, and feed rate.
