Microbiological quality and safety of raw milk from direct sale in northern Germany

Christina Boehnlein et al.

Summary: The microbiological quality of raw milk sold at farm level in northern Germany was found to be unsatisfactory, with over 1/3 of samples exceeding the acceptable total viable count. Campylobacter jejuni and Arcobacter butzleri were detected in some samples, and differences in farm management practices were shown to influence raw milk quality.

Summary: This study conducted a meta-analysis on the concentration and prevalence of aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) in different types of milk from 199 articles, revealing differences in AFM1 concentration in raw and pasteurized milk from various countries and livestock types. Strict monitoring and control of AFM1 in milk and dairy products is essential for public health.

Isolation, biotyping and antimicrobial susceptibility of Campylobacter isolates from raw milk in Erbil city, Iraq

Dhary Alewy Almashhadany

Summary: This study found a prevalence of 12.6% of Campylobacter species in raw milk sold at retail vending in Erbil city, with Campylobacter jejuni being the most prevalent at 65.9%. The bacteria showed complete sensitivity to tetracycline, rifampicin, and neomycin, but total resistance to ampicillin and trimethoprim. Some isolates remain sensitive to ciprofloxacin and erythromycin.
