Impact of vertical vibration and gyrotactic microorganisms on stability of thermo-bioconvection

A. K. Kushwaha et al.

Summary: This study investigates the stability of dilute suspension containing gyrotactic microorganisms in a horizontal layer of finite depth heated from below by using high frequency vertical vibration. The time-averaged method and linear stability analysis are used to describe the mean flow behavior of the suspension, revealing that the high frequency vertical vibration increases the thermal stability threshold. Additionally, the presence of bioconvection Pe' clet number and gyrotactic number has a stabilizing effect on the suspension, while cell eccentricity and bioconvection Rayleigh number have a destabilizing effect.
