Photocatalytic Water Oxidation with a CoFe Prussian Blue Analogue-Layered Niobate Hybrid Material

Sina Sadigh Akbari et al.

Summary: A semiconductor-catalyst hybrid assembly was obtained by preparing CoFe Prussian blue particles on Dion-Jacobson type niobate nanosheets, which exhibited enhanced photocatalytic activity in the presence of S2O82- as the electron scavenger. XPS, infrared, XRD, TEM, and SEM studies confirmed proper band energy alignment for the photocatalytic water oxidation process and stability throughout a 12-hour photocatalytic study.

Pushing the limits in photosensitizer-catalyst interaction via a short cyanide bridge for water oxidation

Turkan Gamze Ulusoy Ghobadi et al.

Summary: This study achieved a high-performance, precious-metal-free, stable, and robust photoanode by integrating an organic photosensitizer with a Prussian blue (PB) network and WO3 semiconductor, enabling efficient charge transfer from the photosensitizer to the semiconductor. Under mildly acidic conditions, the photoanode showed good structural integrity and high photoelectrochemical activity.

Understanding the Mechanism of the Oxygen Evolution Reaction with Consideration of Spin

Xiaoning Li et al.

Summary: This article discusses the electron behavior during the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) by considering the spin attribute, highlighting the high requirements on the spin structure of electrocatalysts. Understanding the coupling between spin, charge, orbital, and lattice parameters is necessary for optimizing geometric and electronic structures in transition metal systems. It also explores the potential dependency of OER efficiency on the electrocatalyst spin configuration and the relevance of factors like crystal field, coordination, oxidation, bonding, electron number, conductivity, and magnetism with spin.
