Six-wavelength-switchable narrow-linewidth thulium-doped fiber laser with polarization-maintaining sampled fiber Bragg grating

Luna Zhang et al.

Summary: This study presents a compound-cavity-based single-longitudinal-mode thulium-doped fiber laser capable of switching between six wavelengths, with polarization-maintaining sampled fiber Bragg gratings enabling laser single-mode operation in each channel. The use of a tri-ring sub-cavity ensures stable lasing in each channel. Frequency noise analysis reveals narrow linewidths for the six lasing wavelengths.

Watt-level 1.7-μm single-frequency thulium-doped fiber oscillator

Lu Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, an efficient high-power single-frequency thulium-doped fiber ring laser operating at 1720 nm was demonstrated. By inserting three cascaded sub-rings and incorporating a fiber Bragg grating, single longitudinal mode operation was achieved. The maximum single-frequency output power reached 1.11 W with a slope efficiency of 46.4%, and the laser linewidth at maximum power was measured to be 1.9 kHz. The potential power scaling of the single-frequency output power with different quantity and lengths of sub-rings was also theoretically investigated.

Stable Multi-Wavelength Thulium-Doped Fiber Laser With Two Cascaded Single-Mode-Four-Mode-Single-Mode Fiber Interferometers

Ying Guo et al.

Summary: This study presents a multi-wavelength thulium-doped fiber laser using two cascaded single-mode-four-mode-single-mode fiber interferometers and a highly nonlinear fiber. By adjusting different lengths of four-mode fibers, specific wavelengths can be selected and more laser lines can be stimulated, resulting in 31 lasing lines covering a wavelength range of around 22 nm. The power fluctuation and wavelength drift for the 31-wavelength operation of the fiber laser are within 0.706 dB and 0.02 nm, respectively.
